The Cut Christmas Tree

Here they are, ready to unload... "all hands on deck!"

"Back it right up... just a few feet more!"

Suspended from the lathe house, where broadleaved evergreens are displayed throughout the growing season, these freshly-cut Christmas trees are easily viewed. Because they're hanging, choosing just the right tree is an almost hands-free experience.

Each has its charm, from the lightly sheared cut balsam to the exceptional quality of the premium cut balsams or Fraser firs.

Wandering through this pendulous "forest," savoring the pungency of balsam on the chilly breeze, one is immediately put in that holiday mood.

Look to local garden centers for the care and convenience at Christmas, that they provide the rest of the year. Make shopping for trees, greens, wreaths, ornaments and gifts a thoroughly enjoyable experience and eliminate some of the stops on your busy schedule.

A special thanks to the staff of Corliss Bros. Nursery & Garden Center (Ipswich, MA) for the fine photos, ©2007

I know that scent is such a memory evoker too. Looks way cool. It's starting to look a lot like Christmas...

Tina ~ Between the cut trees, live trees and fresh greens, the fragrance is astonishing! With yesterday's high temp of about 35º, everyone was in a festive mood... perfect tree shopping weather.

I followed several of the huge trucks down the mountain last week....brakes burning rubber, overloaded with no permits to haul that much;), and full medal to pedal once they reached the bottom. Fresh cut that day and on a mission to deliver! I was watching them cut in the fields when there was light enough to see...but the ride back down the mountain with those trucks all around was un-nerving.

Anna ~ That sounds so dangerous, especially riding down the mountain, surrounded by those trucks! Glad you enjoyed the post.
