Fifteen Days of Contrasts

November in New England... a little color lingers, the sky waffles between azure and slate gray, brilliant sun, cold rain, unexpected warmth, fog, bitter wind, hoarfrost... something for everyone, really. The following glimpses are not necessarily in chronological order, but were all taken from November 1-15, 2008. Just think ~ this is only the first half of the month ~ please enjoy your journey...

Well, Lucy and I are off to hike and collect
the rest of November in photos, so we can share
the remainder of this month of contrasts.
Thanks for stopping by!

These are so lovely and crisp. Wonder what the rest of November will give you to capture?

Thanks, Angie! I'm thinking "frost," as there are freezing temps rolling in, starting tonight... everything will be sparkling.

Lots of contrasts. Those red maple leaves look just like Canadian's maple leaf. Very nice.

Tina ~ Thank you! When I realized what a variety of November photos I had stored in iPhoto, I decided to share the many faces of this month... definitely a fun project!

You have to enjoy and be amazed by this time of year.

Absolutely, Ralph. And for more Novembers than I care to admit... it just never gets old - nature never fails to amaze!

Yes, these are definitely New England photos, very recognizable to this fellow New Englander. This past Saturday was virtually tropical, and now snow showers. I like it better cold this time of year.

Joanne ~ Thanks for the visit! Like you, I'm ready for the cold, crisp weather... Saturday was too warm, even in Ipswich at the garden center. This morning we had ice on Lily Pond, but no picturesque rime frost - maybe tomorrow.

The one shout of color in front of your home just screams--November! I enjoyed the tour.

Anna ~ thank you for that! I am so ready for the rest of November, wondering exactly what opportunities await... photographically speaking!

Thank you for your first-half-of-November tour! There are several favorites, but I really like the blue and blue with the silhouetted trees. :-) Maybe someday you'd do a walking tour through your town... to show typical buildings and houses?

You're welcome, Shady! My favorites are the two electric-blue skies with golden foliage - two different days and locations - I just couldn't get over the color of the sky. I also liked the chokeberry, crab and arched branch with raindrops. And, of course, Lucy in mid-stride.

Think I'll stick to nature photography, although I have no adequate way to capture wildlife. I'm at my happiest when shooting "wild & woolly" ... even more so, than with garden shots. (Probably shouldn't admit this, but there you go.)

Glad you liked the contrasts of our November...

I miss the seasons of New England. When I get 'old' I might like to retire there.

I was here again;) Left you some carrot cake.

Jim ~ Were you from New England, originally? I know what you mean - love the changes! Just remember, if you retire here, there's snow shoveling involved! (Not like Texas!)

"Hi" to Adi & Katrin!

Anna ~ Welcome back... same ole, same ole! I'll have to stop coasting on this post, pretty soon.
Sorry I had nothing new this time!

What carrot cake? Where? Must be at your place... I'll be over.
