Carol, of "Claybritt Images," posted a moving piece about donuts... no, really... actual moving, as she takes us along with her, on a Saturday morning odyssey, entitled, "Debuting for Deb, It's Dangerous Driving for Donuts Day" (love the alliteration!). Click anywhere on this post, for transport to "Cal's Donuts." While you're over there, scroll down to some of her older posts, for fine photography and fresh perspectives. And I highly recommend scrolling her sidebar... great photos and you've just got to see the "Nosey Neighbor" series. Have fun! /Deb

Mmmm, donuts!
Deb ! I loved this post .. and Carol is one heck of a photographer ! Love her shots .. thanks for directing me there girl ! How is Lucy Maud and the rowdy boys doing ?
Deb, Thanks for my morning detour. It was an enjoyable visit. I try to stay away from doughnuts! ;-)
I took the Volvo Donut Tour, and enjoyed it very much thank you.
I LOVE your header!
Thanks Deb. I really don't get out all that much. I must store it all up inside so that when I let go, I really let go!
I am now in a stassis position until I get another chance to be...me.
I have enjoyed your blog immensely.... and
to Lucy Maude, I have a message:
"woof"
from all the hair sloughing meowers at my abode.
We have now decided upon our initial keg garden participants this year.
First and always:
cilantro
basil
oregano
alliums (of most varieties)
dill
pole beans
one of the cherry tomatoes

Here is our situation:
Our daughter, 22, Sarah (jewelry business name: Sarahbushka <~~google her) is severely affected with Autism and developmental disabilities.
She has extreme eating fetishes, pica they call it. She doesn't eat many veggies, or anything green, so we have been implementing a new way for her to get her veggies. ie: RAW
We grow things on our deck in 1/2 barrel kegs or big pots, and she helps me by watering and later harvesting. Since she is always hungry, I have found that if she is outside with me tending the garden, she will actually eat the veggies right off the vine, especially if I keep her good and hungry, LOL. (She is not underfed, by any means at 180+#'s). But she literally gets no greens unless I can get her to eat lettuce while I am fixing dinner. (She does eat a lot of carrots)
Each year we introduce a new veggie and she eats them outside with me (not inside the house much, go figure). We now have her eating fresh peas, beans and tomatoes. Yay! So we are now in the decision making process of choosing her veggie this year.
We are trying to keep the viney things to a minimum, since we already have concords growing and limited deck space.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Deb.
Loving Garden Author!

PS- It is Irish Week here in town
There's hurling this weekend.
Angie ~ They sure are purty, eh? But, alas, not for me!
Joy ~ Glad you enjoyed your visit at Carol's. Lucy's doing well, though pretty tuckered out from all day at the garden center. The rowdy boys are fairly quiet... almost sullen, as they expect me to be here 24/7. Soon, I'll be gone six days a week and running errands on the seventh day - I'm guessing they'll have to get over it! (And Lucy thinks she's tired, now!)
Shady ~ Glad the tour went well! Photos of donuts are the most I can manage... I'm not sure that there isn't caloric intake involved in merely viewing these delicacies.
Bobbie ~ Tasty tour, wasn't it? Didn't you just love the photography, especially the sidebar? I keep going back. Thanks for the comment on my header. It matches my business cards... think I'll leave it, at least for a while!
Carol ~ Enjoyed all your comments! Lucy says "woof" back... actually, she's sacked out in my recliner, so I took the liberty. The cats have nothing to add, as they're busy ignoring me, at the moment.
How about New Zealand spinach for Sarah? Excellent raw or cooked... smaller leaves allow a long harvest - heat tolerant, as well as cold, so you can plant and pick all season. Also, how about curled parsley? I'm always snipping and munching this tasty treat, as I tend the gardens... yummy and full of vitamins and such. Chewing on mint leaves... especially the chocolate, orange, apple, pineapple and more exotic varieties is fun for anyone... she'd probably enjoy the variety of flavors.
And, hurling? As in an Irish game resembling field hockey, played with a shorter stick with a broader oval blade? Which is the national game of Ireland and may date back to the 2nd millennium BC? That hurling? (OK, I looked it up.) What, no curling or tossing the caber? (I'm of the Scottish variety, among other things like French Canadian, English and Dutch.) What, no haggis? (A whole 'nother definition of "hurling.")
Signing off for the night, y'all! I'll do some visiting on Sunday! /Deb
Hi Deb,
Ok, so I am typing without my glasses because I have misplaced them somewhere in my house, or one of the cats has them. Even tho' I have about 8 pair, each pair fits its location to a tee, as in distance from the item I want to see. (Short Arm syndrome)
I neglected to add the mints on my list as we always have at least 2 varieties growing. I will check for the NZ spinach when we do our shopping at our local gadening farm (we have 2 family owned nurseries close by).
Oh boy, now I want to make some cucumber yogurt salad. Luckily I always have the dried mint on hand for that.
I also took a tour through all of your friends blogs and found some amazing things! Joy and I have a lot in common, namely goyles (gargoyles), and she also knows 'they' out there, zipping around space, teasing us by hiding behind clouds. Haha :o)
Now, it is time to come back to Earth, because my hubby is due home from his 3 day work week (out of town) and should be arriving in an hour or so. He was dispaced from his work site several months ago when they closed (he works in the semiconductor industry); when his company, based in MA, had a contract in our town. Now he is at a new place (Intel) but it is 100 mi away. So he commutes to and from 1 time/week, staying there. Better than no job, though. I am a hairdresser so I am not affected by the economy as much.
Thanks for everything, no more D's, at this point. We'll see where the next tour originates from, maybe things will be different.
Take care Deb!
Thanks to all~
Carol
Carol ~ Enjoyed the updates! I see, in my sidebar, that you've been busy posting again. Gotta meet my newsletter deadline (over on 'Corliss Clips'), but I'll stop by later today for a visit.
