Here, in New England, we've enjoyed a real honest-to-goodness spring! The Iris displays have been especially outstanding... from old hybrids (whose proper names are long forgotten), holding their own among the lush weed growth or nestled by stone walls, to the wild yellow flag decorating the banks of an old irrigation pond.
Hope your spring is bringing you pleasure, wherever you garden!

Iris are so lovely. Your last two photos are my favorites.
And - forgive me - so appropriate to Flag Day. Silly. But that's what popped into my mind.
Well hello there Deb ! How are you girl : )
I love your iris .. they are such dramatic flowers .. I keep meaning to get some myself : )
How is Lucy Maude and the boys ?
The girls have "gentlemen callers" who leave a calling card on the deck door .. jeez !
Yes .. a Spring has sprung .. but we are having a lot of extra rain to go with it. I shouldn't complain though .. we had MANY dry years, so I am happy to have my rain barrel fill up : )
lovely aren't they
Yea!! I'm so glad you were able to find time to post some of the floral activity in your yard, Deb! I know you're keeping really busy... so it was a treat to see you here today. :-)
GREETINGS TO ALL ~
My goodness, everyone - so nice to hear from you, after my spring-long absence from the blogosphere! Busy, busy spring at Corliss, especially because we actually had spring this year... spring in New England is practically non-existent some years, so we're really reveling in this growing season.
Bobbie ~ Enjoyed your comments. As an unabashed fan of all things wild and woolly, the yellow flag by the irrigation pond is my favorite... those cultivated iris are such show-offs!
Joy ~ They are dramatic, in a flamboyant sort of way. My mum doesn't really care for her brown iris, but I thought it fun to photograph.
Thanks - Lucy-Maude is suffering from a long spring of working at the garden center and is not nearly as "psyched" to go to work in the morning, as she once was. We're now enjoying a 4-day work week, with more time to garden here, write and start blogging again.
I won't even ask about the "calling cards" the girls are receiving - some things are better left unspoken, don't you think? Although, I'm not surprised that such attractive ladies would be entertaining suitors, if only through the windows. Goodness knows, my triplets all gallop, en masse, down the cellar stairs when a certain feral female cat starts caterwauling by our basement windows... But, never "Uncle Stanley" - he's too dignified for such activity... leaves it to the younger generation.
Lastly, rain... we've finally had some significant rainfall, although we're already seeing water bans posted in surrounding towns. It's been a rather cloudy, drizzly, cold June thus far, but they promise a glimpse of sun today and tomorrow, at least. Glad to hear you've received much-needed rain and that your gardens continue to thrive.
Pete ~ Thanks for taking the time to stop and smell the iris! I am in the process of finally tending to my own gardens and getting back to blogging, after an incredibly busy spring at the garden center. Promise to stop by Quacks of Life, ASAP! Need to see how spring progresses over there.
Shady ~ Forgot to mention, at my last visit, love your new Virginia Bluebells header.
I've been so frustrated at not finding the time to post at least some of the spring photos I've taken, as I travel to work and help out in my mom's yard. Sadly, I have no iris - took those at my mom's, by the roadside in Ipswich and by the irrigation pond at the nursery.
I've got cows, horses, flowers, skies, insects and even lush poison ivy all set to go, as soon as I find a moment. "Stay tuned!"
It will be such a treat to visit everyone, again... but right now, I'm headed off for lawn and garden duty at my mother's. I'm really hoping that I can get my tomato plants in before frost - its like the house painter who never finds time to paint his own house, isn't it?
I'm glad to see that "lush" is the order of the day, in your home landscape - happy growing!
My favorite photo is the first one, the flower color is so subtle.
Bearded iris are such handsome plants.
Your blog name of GardenAuthor got my attention, since that describes me too.
I write garden articles, amongst other topics.

Thanks, Terra! That peach iris is in my mum's garden, as well as the purple & yellow specimen and the "brown" one, which she doesn't like, nor remember planting... but it is photogenic.
Took a quick visit to your blog... your Dreyer's frozen fruit bars remind me of those carried by Trader Joe's, here on the east coast./Deb
Great pictures! You have to love Iris plants this year even here they are amazing this year.
Ralph
Ralph ~ Happy to hear from you, and that your Iris blooms are as amazing as our east coast specimens. Lots of gray, drizzly weather lately, but it's been a great spring overall. Now, to deal with all the "fungus among us!"
